Creating is a prominent force in my life. My experiences, culture, intellectual and emotional responses, memories, people, dreams and the physical world I travel in are all compiled into my art work.
I have worked in many different mediums. Handmade paper, printmaking, colored pencils, oil, pastels, digital imaging, oil, Chinese and watercolor paints have all been recurring vehicles of expression for me. For the past four years, I have been working with mixed media. My focus is in making expressive images that may take a variety of forms. Sometimes my artwork looks like a painting; other times like a book, and often like a collage. My most recent work involves making handmade books from metals, enameling and jewelry, These books are filled with my drawings and paintings.
Teaching on the University level for the past twenty-five years has helped me to stay abreast with current art trends and new technology. The students who I teach continue to teach me. Their ideas are fresh, their enthusiasm catching and their questions challenging. Their presence in my life feeds and nourishes my own artistic sensibilities.
