蔡淑惠

SHUHUI TSAI

Shuhui Tsai was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She is a contemporary artist who creates works in cross-border media. Works include sculpture, installation, photography and embroidery. Shuhui Tsai graduated from the Art Department of City College of the City University of New York, and completed her Bachelor of Arts in 1992 and her Master of Arts in 1994. Recipient of the Holly T. Popper Scholarship. She held solo exhibitions at Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art (2014) and Taipei Fine Arts Museum (1999-2000). Her works have been exhibited at The Alternative Museum in New York, USA, the 59 Rue de Rivoli Gallery in Paris, France, and the foyer of LaborGras studio in Berlin, Germany. She thinks knowing herself is the most important thing. Her personal experience is her source of inspiration for her creations, including reflections on gender issues and the environment. Shuhui Tsai’s works reveal a grand temperament, pure and delicate style, exuding unique originality and oriental poetry. She has won several creation and exhibition awards from the National Culture and Art Foundation. Her works are included in the National Cultural Database of the Ministry of Culture, the Taiwan Contemporary Art Database, and the Asian Art Archive.
