gradient_type=”default”][vc_column_text]Margaret Shiu (July 23, 1946 – August 30, 2021) was an artist, curator, collector, founder of “Zhuwei Studio”, and a self-proclaimed cultural worker. Born in British Hong Kong in 1946, she went to the United States to study economics at the University of California, Berkeley, and minored in history of Western art and architecture. She settled in Taiwan in 1976 and started her art collection career. Sh has supported Taiwanese artists in different periods for more than 40 years. While studying oriental art culture, she is also engaged in artistic creation. She has participated in many exhibitions in Taiwan and internationally and won awards. Faced with the limitations of Taiwan’s artistic development, she actively advocated international cultural exchanges. When the early government had not yet developed a complete cultural policy, she advocated the presence of art and the reuse of idle space, participated in and co-founded the “Visual Art Alliance” and the “Women’s Art Association”. Founded Taiwan’s first non-profit international art village “Zhuwei Studio” in 1995, committed to the long-term planning and operation practice of art space, and is the pioneer of Taiwan art village. She actively promotes the involvement of art in society, and cares about issues such as social and ecological sustainability. In 2013, he and Wu Mali won the 11th Taishin Art Award for the “Shumeikeng River Environmental Art Action”. In 2021, for its contribution to the international exchange and promotion of art, she successively won the medal of the Cultural Association of the Ministry of Culture, the 25th Taipei Cultural Award, and the New Taipei City Cultural Award.<\/p>\n
