Chu-Yin Chen was enlightened by Li Zhongsheng, a pioneer of modern Chinese painting in Taiwan in the early days. Her creations originated from the spontaneity of the subconscious, expressing the inner world of mental images through automatic drawing and sketching. In 1987, she studied in France and entered the Paris Higher School of Art, and participated in many exhibitions as a rookie in the Paris art scene. In 1993, she devoted herself to the burgeoning digital art creation, studied Artificial Life algorithms and developed independent systems, created 3D computer animations and a series of “Life Interactive Magnetic Field Works”. Its original research spans multiple fields such as natural sciences, life sciences, computer technology, mind and brain neuroscience, and philosophy of mind. In 2011, she was awarded the title of Doctoral Supervisor in the field of technology and art by the French National Higher Education and Research Innovation Department, which confirms her academic achievements and affirmation in this field. In 2016, Taiwan’s public television launched “Art Number Frenzy”, a documentary introducing Taiwanese new media artists overseas, and Chu-Yin Chen was the only woman in it.
