Born in Miaoli, Taiwan in 1961, Juin Shieh graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Taiwan Normal University in 1984, and received a master’s degree in art creation from the Pratt Institute in New York in 1989. Doctor of Art Creation, currently a full-time professor at the Department of Art and Design, National Tsing Hua University. Juin Shieh’s creations focus on gender issues. Her works show the tremendous energy of women’s life history with layered and blended images and rich intertextual references, and at the same time propose a profound viewing perspective on body and gender issues. Xie Hongjun’s works have been collected by Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Kaohsiung Fine Arts Museum, National Museum of History, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Art Bank, Australia White Rabbit Art Museum, etc.
