The Amis of the Dulan tribe in Taitung extended her thoughts on ethnic culture, ecological environment, and humanistic context based on the weaving and embroidery craft. She began to create the patchwork mural “Totem in Memory” commissioned by the Taitung National Taxation Bureau in 2001. It has been nearly 20 years since its creation. No matter the medium used is steel bar, driftwood, stone or bamboo. Hana’s works always have many flexible and tense lines. A unique artistic perspective on the east coast of the island where the Coast Mountains meet the Pacific Ocean. Hana Ge Liu even established the “Landiao Weaver Girl” studio to reproduce the close relationship between tribal life and craftsmanship.
